Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions page!
Take some time to browse through the questions here. You will find a comprehensive list of commonly asked questions and their answers. We also throw questions in here that do not belong in the guides. If you can't find a satisfactory answer, just drop us your question and we will get back to you at lightspeed.
A: GMaps returns results from registered businesses and organizations. While it may return fewer results, the results are generally more accurate when looking for contact information such as websites, email addresses, and phone numbers.
A: The + methods generally return a larger number of results. However, when the requested quantity is below 1,000, the results may be less geographically diverse. This means that a smaller scrape may return a higher proportion of results from the same few cities.
A: There could be several reasons. In some cases, an email address or phone number cannot be found because the business or organization has not made the information publicly available. Incomplete results may also occur if a scrape is stopped prematurely, as the scraping process may not have had sufficient time to retrieve all available contact information.
A: There are two possible reasons for this. First, your search may be too specific or have very limited results available. For example, searching for “Tiramisu” in “Antarctica” is unlikely to return any results. Second, the scraping process may occasionally fail due to unexpected technical issues. If this happens, simply return to the Scrape page and try again.
A: If you receive fewer results than requested, we may have reached the maximum number of results available online. We may also remove duplicate results to prevent you from being charged multiple times for the same result. If you receive more results than requested, this is because Google Maps returns results in batches of 20. Rather than discarding these additional results, we provide them to you.
A: The Rescrape button runs a new scrape using the same parameters while retaining your previously scraped results. Any new results that match an existing result will not be added to the CSV file, helping to prevent duplicates. The result count will also continue from your previous scrape rather than restarting from zero.
A: A scrape with an “Expired” status has been running for more than 5 days. We automatically stop scrapes that exceed this limit because they may be stuck or continue running indefinitely.
A: Generally, web scraping itself is not inherently illegal. However, the legality of web scraping can depend on factors such as the website being scraped, the type of information collected, how the data is obtained, and how the data is subsequently used. GMaps collects information that is publicly available on the internet. However, publicly available information may still be subject to applicable laws, terms of service, intellectual property rights, privacy requirements, or other restrictions. Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of scraped data complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Using scraped information for an unlawful purpose may result in legal consequences.
A: The Integration page allows you to connect GMaps with other web applications using a webhook, allowing you to share your scraped results in CSV format.
A: Overages are additional fees charged when you exceed the result limit included in your plan. Overage results are charged at $0.025 per result.
A: Yes. You cannot start a scrape that exceeds three times the scrape limit of your current plan. This limit helps ensure that your selected plan is appropriate for your scraping requirements.
A: When you upgrade your plan, the new plan takes effect immediately and your billing cycle resets at the time of the upgrade. Your upgrade charge is prorated based on the unused portion of your current plan. For example: If you are on Day 15 of a Standard 5k Plan ($60/month) and upgrade to a Pro 50k Plan ($670/month), your prorated charge would be $640:
$670 − [(30 − 15) ÷ 30 × $60] = $640
Your new billing cycle will begin on the date of the upgrade.
A: When you downgrade your plan, your current plan will remain active until the end of your existing billing cycle. Your new plan will then take effect when the current billing cycle ends, and you will be charged the price of the new plan. For example: If you are subscribed to the Pro 50k Plan ($670/month) and downgrade to the Standard 5k Plan ($60/month) before Day 30, you will retain access to the Pro 50k Plan until Day 30. On Day 30, your Standard 5k Plan will begin and you will be charged $60.
A: When you refer a friend to our service, both you and your friend can receive a $10 discount. The discount applies when the referred user successfully subscribes to a paid plan. Once your referral has subscribed, you will receive a $10 promotional code. $10 will then be deducted from your available credits each billing cycle.
